What daughter wouldn't be proud of this Cusack wearing bunny faced bearded Dad?
I am riding high on some basic Dad praise, I know it is a collective praise for my whole family - but as the rest of my family aren't blogging right now - I am stealing it for myself.
Quote from small child at our Easter Party yesterday;
Small Child, "Daddy, I want to stay here forever it's so much fun."
Small Child's Dad, "But then they will have to adopt you and you won't be with us any more."
Small Child, "That's OK."
And that's it - right there - small children like me (obviously Mrs Simon too and no doubt Ginger and Blondie) but I get on with kids. I hear you scoffing, what kind of man (apart from the obvious underbelly of society) takes joy in being able to win over kids, that is just a socially inept person. But no - this is no mean feat. Children are capricious, children straddle several different levels of maturity at once, children need you to be fun, yet educational, safe, sensible and completely foolish all in one package. Adults don't demand so much.
The best moment in life is when your daughters want to show you off to their friends, because they are proud that you are their Dad, that they think you are the best Dad in the world and that, to quote Ginger, "You are the coolest Dad, and sooo handsome." *wipes tear of remembrance from eyes*.
So that is my ego sorted out for a day or two. I know this window is a small one and it is closing fast but for now, I am savouring every last bit.
